Fabric Capacity Metrics App

UPDATE: 11/13/2023 The Fabric Capacity App is no longer considered a third-party app and can be installed WITHOUT the need to enable the previous mentioned setting to be installed.

The current version of the Premium Capacity Metrics App has been deprecated and replaced with the Fabric Capacity Metrics App which has new install shortcuts. Be aware that Fabric still is not yet available in GCC or other government clouds.

Instructions to install this is found in our documentation, https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/fabric/enterprise/metrics-app-install?tabs=1st#install-the-app

Specifically you will need the capacity GUI found in the URL of your capacity admin portal:

For example:https://app.powerbigov.us//admin-portal/capacities/9B77CC50-E537-40E4-99B9-2B356347E584

It will create a new workspace called Microsoft Fabric Capacity Metrics

  1. There is a note in my article that says you need to make sure you have the ability to install a third party App is enabled in your tenant. Please verify this setting:

  3. After installing and adding our Power BI premium capacity, the app opens, but no data…the capacity used is not viewed/displayed under the drop-down menu and no data is displayed. Is this supposed to work without Fabric in GCC yet? Thank you.

    1. I’ve tested this in GCC and know that it does work even if Fabric is not yet available. Make sure you are a capacity admin, I’ve seen this happen before when a person was a global admin but not actually a capacity admin. Make sure the refresh completed successfully as well.
