FABRIC IN GCC – WHAT TO EXPECT AND HOW TO SKILL UP

For those who have seen the most recent announcements regarding our new platform Fabric, we wanted to clear up things and set expectations.

As most people already know, preview features tend not to land in our GCC tenants until a feature has become Generally Available.

Fabric is no exception to this reality. While we do not know when GA will be announced, we have been told that existing Premium capacity customers should expect Fabric capabilities and then at some later point in time will transition to Fabric that is anchored in Azure (which is currently unavailable in GCC).

What the timeline for this transition is unknown at this time, but those with Premium capacity investments in our GCC cloud should expect being able to continue the ability to purchase more capacity in the future.

For those that wish to try out Fabric but are in our GCC cloud, here is a suggestion:

Customers can spin up a free trial of O365 E5 (including Power BI Pro) and then apply the Fabric trial to this disposable environment Office 365 E5 – Enterprise Solution Upgrade from E3 | Microsoft

You will need to use a personal email account and make sure you cancel the subscription once created or you can get billed to the credit card you provide during the trial sign up process.

Optionally you can create an Azure AD subscription for free and enable Power BI in this environment  https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/developer/embedded/create-an-azure-active-directory-tenant

Then you can enable Fabric trials in this tenant Fabric (preview) trial – Microsoft Fabric | Microsoft Learn

Finally, you can take the Fabric Tutorials and skill up on this new technology as we wait for release in GCC https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/fabric/get-started/end-to-end-tutorials

Feel free to provide any feedback to your account team.
